From: Chester B. Muroski, President Judge on behalf of all members
of the 11th Judicial District of Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas of
Luzerne County
The President Judge, with approval from all members of the Court
en banc, entered an Order today finalizing the restructuring of the Magisterial
District Court in 11th Judicial District of Pennsylvania, encompassing
Luzerne County. A copy of that Order is attached hereto. This Order culminates
an extensive review of the former Central Court which included a public
hearing held February 24, 2009, at which members of the Court en banc
heard statements from representatives of the Magisterial District Court,
District Attorney and Public Defender’s offices, Central Court Administrator,
the Luzerne County Chiefs of Police Association relating to the feasibility
of continuing operating Central Court under its former structure. Thereafter,
the Court en banc agreed to a modification of the Magisterial District
Court system, necessitating the coordination of numerous meetings with
representatives on behalf of the Magisterial District Court, District
Attorney, Public Defender and state and local police. |
